This very popular course is for applicants who are interested in returning to education but lack confidence because they may not have appropriate qualifications. The Access to HE course is designed to meet learners’ needs by helping to gain new skills and qualifications which can be used to gain a place at university or to enhance career prospects.
All our Access Diplomas are made up of three Level 3 units with graded Academic Subject Content (ASC) and other Level 2 or ungraded Level 3 Academic Preparation Skills units (APS) which offer generic, introductory or personal development skills.
On the Health and Social Care Diploma choose three from the following subjects: Biology, Chemistry, Maths, Psychology or Sociology, and also study core components such as Study Skills and ICT.
Students will produce a portfolio of work over the year, and gain credits for assignments. There are exams in some subjects.
Students will receive help and advice with the selection of university and college courses, and with application and interview procedures.
Successful learners can progress onto HE qualifications here at Bridgwater & Taunton College’s University Centre Somerset:
Please note: most university courses require GCSE Maths and/or English. There is opportunity to study both alongside the Access programme, if needed.
