Humanities Access to Higher Education Diploma - Bridgwater & Taunton College

Course Overview

This very popular course is for applicants aged 19 and over, who areinterested in returning to education but lack confidence becausethey may not have appropriate qualifications. The Access to HE course is designed to gain new skills and qualifications, which can be used to gain a place at university or to enhance career prospects.

All our Access Diplomas are made up of three Level 3 units with graded academic subject content and other Level 2 or ungraded Level 3 academic preparation skills units, which offer generic, introductory or personal development skills.

On the Humanities Diploma, choose three from the following subjects: English, History, Psychology or Sociology. In addition there will be core components such as study skills andICT.

Assessment Methods

Students will produce a portfolio of work over the year, and gain credits for assignments. There are exams in some subjects.

Progression Options

Students will receive help and advice with the selection of university and college courses, and with application and interview procedures.

Please note: most university courses require GCSE Maths and/or English. There is opportunity to study both alongside the Access programme, if needed.
