Agritech Machinery & Tractor Technology Bootcamp - Bridgwater & Taunton College

Course Overview

This 8-week Agritech Machinery & Tractor Technology Bootcamp has been designed in partnership with our industry partners and is aimed at people who want to retrain to gain practical skills and knowledge in agricultural technology and mechanisation. The programme is designed to provide you with a range of practical and theoretical subjects including relevant employability skills to prepare you for progression into the workplace or further study in this sector.

You will study on our Cannington Campus at Rodway Farm where you will be immersed in the mechanisation aspects of running a farm. This will enable you to develop the relevant skills, behaviours, knowledge and health and safety awareness training required to work in this sector. You will have the opportunity to experience employer talks which will assist with your progression into employment. There will be the opportunity for you to visit local machinery dealerships to provide an insight in to working in a workshop environment and potential career path.

PPE brought in by learners will be checked to ensure it is suitable for use in practicals and workshops.

Assessment Methods

Assessment will be in various forms including an initial skills scan at the start of the programme, practical work and a written portfolio. You will take part in mid and end of programme progress reviews. Ongoing observations of your practical work throughout the bootcamp will map your progress and increasing knowledge. This will also highlight the confidence you have gained from the beginning of the course.

Progression Options

On completion of the Agritech Machinery & Tractor Technology Bootcamp you will have gained a wide range of skills that will allow you to enter the industry. You will have gained technical agricultural mechanisation knowledge to complement employability skills, such as interview techniques and preparing you for the workplace.

Entry Requirements

This Agritech Machinery & Tractor Technology Bootcamp is available to adults aged 19+ who are either in work, looking for work or returning to the workplace.

Course entry is subject to a successful telephone interview following your application. Maths and English support will be given to those without a Level 2.

Attendance Requirements This Agritech Machinery & Tractor Technology Bootcamp is aimed at those looking to progress into a machinery workshop job or achieve progression into a better agricultural mechanisation job. You will attend college for 2 days per week for 8 weeks. We are working with local employers who will be interviewing Bootcamp candidates for jobs either immediately or in the near future. This could be via an adult Apprenticeship route but may be through direct employment into a full-time job. We will expect all candidates to attend interviews where they are made available. There will be distance learning and e-learning elements to this Bootcamp. Learning materials for the employability and work-readiness skills will provide you with flexibility with your study, but you will still have tutor support when you need it. You will need to be able to access the e-learning modules via an internet connected PC, laptop, tablet, or phone.

Spotlight
