Begin your apprenticeship journey at BTC by applying for an apprenticeship on our website or through our prospectus form. Please apply for a full-time course as your second option. Then, have a look at relevant vacancies by visiting our vacancy page . If you haven’t found a suitable vacancy, you will automatically be placed into our Talent Pool.

This flexible qualification suits practical learners with a passion for animals who want to improve their knowledge and competence.
You have the option to study two pathways – dog grooming or animal care and welfare. To be successful, you must complete a range of mandatory and optional units. The selection of optional units depends on your pathway.

Assessment includes written coursework, an online portfolio, expert witness statements provided by employer and a practical assessment in the workplace.
Having successfully completed this course, you can progress to the Level 3 qualification. Alternatively you may choose to continue to work within your current employment and use the knowledge you have gained to move into a supervisory position.

I’m really proud of what I’ve achieved so far. I’ve never been a confident person, so the thought of work experience and spending time with a group of strangers seemed impossible. Now everything’s changed - I completed work experience with the National Animal Welfare Trust at Heaven’s Gate and met some lovely people. This valuable experience reinforced that looking after animals really is my dream job.
