This course is aimed at those either currently working in the grooming industry or completing a qualification. The aim is to provide groomers and salon workers with the skills required to deal first aid situations that may occur.
The programme will provide an overview of some of the common First Aid situations that could occur in a grooming salon. Equipping the learner with the knowledge of how to deal with them, as well as learning handling techniques to ensure their safety.
The course is delivered by a qualified Veterinary Nurse who is experienced in all aspects of First Aid.
Topics that are covered will be unique to groomers to help deal with emergency situations.
There will be the opportunity to practice some bandaging and other techniques where appropriate throughout the day. The programme will also incorporate information on dog anatomy and an opportunity to discuss correct handling techniques so to ensure safe handling when grooming.
Learners will receive a certificate of attendance after the course.
This course has no requirement for formal assessment. However, learners will be provided with continuous feedback when completing any practical tasks.

I’m really proud of what I’ve achieved so far. I’ve never been a confident person, so the thought of work experience and spending time with a group of strangers seemed impossible. Now everything’s changed - I completed work experience with the National Animal Welfare Trust at Heaven’s Gate and met some lovely people. This valuable experience reinforced that looking after animals really is my dream job.
