Course Overview

This course is designed for learners who crave an evening of making and creating beautiful botanical prints. Using a collection of natural objects and photographic negatives you will be given the opportunity to produce a series of prints using a series of camera-less printing techniques. At the end of the session you will come away with a variety of bespoke camera-less prints which can be used to make postcards, cards or simply unique prints. This is a new course with a new tutor to our evening course provision. The course will make use of our excellent facilities in the Arts House which include the Print Room and Photographic Dark Room. During the four weeks, learners will focus on a different technique each week including lumen printing, ripplegrams and laser pen drawings, and cyanotypes for two weeks. Learners are encouraged to bring in objects that would make interesting prints such as flowers, feathers, buttons, leaves with interesting shapes, semi-transparent materials. You might also like to think about some ideas for drawings or paper cut-outs, negatives or digital print outs onto acetate. There will be an array of materials and objects provided to use each week to use if desired.

Spotlight

An apprenticeship has been the best option for me since I benefit from working in the industry as well as gaining a qualification. College days give me time to work on my assignments and explore features in the software I haven’t covered at work. During the rest of the week, I develop client relationships which help build my confidence and improve my ability to express ideas.
