This new course will allow you to explore some techniques for creating a colourful collage using hand coloured and dyed paper and fabrics over a day with a professional artist and colourist. The course is suitable for those with some creativity looking to explore colour and texture in the creation of a simple collage. This course is a new one for us. This day-long workshop provides the opportunity to spend some uninterrupted time in the morning adding a palette of colour to various papers and fabrics. These materials and other embellishments will then be used in the creation of a collage in the afternoon under the expert guidance of our tutor. The day will start with a hand-drawn sketch that you bring with you. We would suggest ideally concentrating on a flower or flowers and butterflies although choice is obviously up to you. The sketch will first be coloured using water soluble crayons before moving to applying colour to a pack of materials (both papers and fabrics) provided by the tutor. You will be guided on your choice of colours to create a pleasing palette for use in the creation of your collage in the afternoon. The afternoon will be spent building up your collage and adding embellishments. The tutor will provide feedback to help you learn and master new techniques in both creating a pallete of colour, applying colour to materials and developing a collage. The cost of the course includes the specialist materials required to make one A4 collage. We ask that you come with an A4 sketch book with one or more pencil sketches of a flower or flowers and butterflies possibly from your garden. But choiuce again is up to you. We are happy to advise. Course tutor Jan Hagen Bossom has spent her career as a colourist for the fashion industry as well as training as a teacher. She has run many creative courses for adults using colour and fabrics in a range of creative endeavours.
