Fused Glass - Bridgwater & Taunton College

Course Overview

This course is suitable for beginners and those with some experience of making decorative objects by fusing glass. You will make use of some unusual materials to create beautiful items to keep.

There will not be time to fire the items during the course so your focus will be entirely on learning some basic principles of glass fusing and trying them out on three separate projects. All the items you make will be available for collection a week after the course has finished.

Over the three sessions you will explore the basics of fusing glass to make highly decorative items for your home or to gift. There will be time to create a coaster, a light catcher and a Christmas decoration which will give plenty of scope to begin to hone your skills and try different techniques.

Assessment Methods

The tutor will provide feedback to help you learn and master new techniques.

An apprenticeship has been the best option for me since I benefit from working in the industry as well as gaining a qualification. College days give me time to work on my assignments and explore features in the software I haven’t covered at work. During the rest of the week, I develop client relationships which help build my confidence and improve my ability to express ideas.
