Course Overview

This course is for individuals keen to learn more about their own digitial SLR camera and who are enthusiastic to learn how to take better photographs making use of the full range of settings on the camera.

You will make use of the excellent facilities within the Arts House alongside a professional photographer as well as making use of the areas within walking distance of the Taunton campus including built and more natural environments. There will be a low light session taking photographs with tripods as well as sessions on the computer trying out techniques such as painting with light and multiple exposures.

The aim of the course is to provide an understanding of some basic photographic principles using natural and artificial light both inside and out of doors and a variety of subjects to photograph. Each week the group will explore a particular technique making better use of the functions provided with the camera.

Assessment Methods

There are no formal assessments on this course but you will be given plenty of feedback by the tutor to enable you to improve and progress through each week.

Progression Options

There are a number of options for progression routes including shorter courses in Photography in Taunton and the year-long Photography and Advanced Photography Diplomas.
