This course is open to anyone keen to experiment painting entirely with watercolours using plants as inspiration. This is a new course for us using some home grown talent. Pollyanna has recently graduated with us and is currently here as an Artist Practitioner. The course will help develop confidence in using watercolour paint on the specialist papers and getting to grips with how it flows to best effect. Over the first three weeks the sessions will concentrate on techniques for applying watercolour paint to paper starting in the first week with just black paint (on white paper) and moving to colours in future weeks. Sessions will focus on looking at basic floral and leaf shapes and ways to translate these into a simple design, getting more ambitious and including inks, colour masking and backgrounds as the weeks’ progress. The final three weeks will be less directed providing time to explore your own areas of interest using masking fluids and inks with colour to provide a greater range of possibilities. There are no additional costs for the course. All the paper, brushes and paint requied are covered in the costs or the course. You are encouraged to bring in interesting flowers and leaves to paint from.
There will be full instructions given and feedback each week to help you develop your techniques and ideas.
|Course Title||Painting Florals with Watercolours|
There are no entry requirements for this course except an enthusiasm to explore this area of creativity.
|Attendance Requirements||One evening a week.|
An apprenticeship has been the best option for me since I benefit from working in the industry as well as gaining a qualification. College days give me time to work on my assignments and explore features in the software I haven’t covered at work. During the rest of the week, I develop client relationships which help build my confidence and improve my ability to express ideas.
