This Apprenticeship is a training programme for new or existing employees working within a design function. The programme operates in the workplace, where employees work alongside experienced staff to gain specific skills, whilst also receiving tuition from the College. The Apprenticeship enables an employer to fill specific skills gaps, adapt to new opportunities and technologies and train their workforce in their own way, passing on skills that have been acquired over many years.
We are working with a range of small and large businesses in areas including graphic design, fashion and textiles and product design.
The course has flexibility to meet the individual needs of employers and apprentices, and commonly includes the following aspects:
Enthusiasm for technology, creating great online experiences and working as part of a team is a must.
Apprentices can start this Apprenticeship at any time of year.
Assessment takes place throughout the course and there are no exams. Examples of assessment methods include evidence of practical skills and knowledge, producing design work, verbal discussions, video evidence, observation activities, witness statements, evidence of theoretical knowledge and understanding, and written assignments, projects and case studies. Assessments in English and Maths may apply.
On completion you could progress into full time employment or move on to university.

I really enjoy studying at Bridgwater & Taunton College. All of my lessons have a friendly atmosphere and my tutors push me to be the best I can be. Studying here has allowed me to gain the qualifications I need to go on to degree level.
