Course Overview

The aim of this qualification is to allow learners to demonstrate understanding of, and competency in, digital literacy skills. It will help learners progress to a work role where digital literacy skills are required.

Unit 1 – Find and use information

Section 1: Be able to identify and select information and resources to meet personal and organisational needs.
Section 2: Be able to evaluate and use researched information
Section 3: Be able to store information in line with an organisation’s agreed procedures

Unit 2 – Safety and security when using data and digital devices

Section 1: Understand how to protect data and devices
Section 2: Understand how organisational data and information is protected
Section 3: Understand how to use digital equipment safely

Unit 3 – Communicating and collaborating online

Section 1: Be able to communicate socially and professionally using technology
Section 2: Know how to communicate effectively via email in a personal or business context
Section 3: Be able to communicate and collaborate using online collaboration tools
Section 4: Be able to communicate and collaborate using digital networks
Section 5: Be able to use blogging to engage with others and keep them informed


Unit 4 – Using word processing software

Section 1:Be able to enter, edit and combine text and other information accurately within word processing documents
Section 2:Be able to edit and structure information within word processing documents
Section 3: Be able to use word

Unit 5 – Using a computer

Section 1: Be able to operate a personal computer or laptop
Section 2: Be able to create and manager folders and files
Section 3: Be able to understand how to connect to the internet
Section 4: Be able to create an online account

Assessment Methods

Assessments are due at the end of each unit. Your tutor will assess your work and build up your portfolio of evidence of learning. A certificate will be awarded on satisfactory submission of evidence of learning for the units studied.

Entry Requirements

Eligibility for FREE Level 1 and 2 Distance Learning
courses:



  • Learners must be aged 19 years or over as at 31/08/19

  • Must have lived in the EU for the last three years

  • Must currently reside in England, in a postal code outside of
    Greater Manchester, Liverpool City, Cambridge & Peterborough, Tees Valley,
    the West Midlands and the North of Tyne Combined Authority
    (NTCA).

  • If aged 19-23, must hold a full Level 2 qualification or above in any
    subject (i.e QCF Diploma Level 2, five GCSEs/O Levels grade A-C, two or three.
    AS Levels, CSE grade 1 5 or more, one A Level, QCF Certificate, GNVQ
    Intermediate, First Certificate or Principle of Learning Level 2). If aged 24+
    no qualifications are required.

Spotlight

I decided to do Level 2 Business which I thoroughly enjoyed which made me chose to develop my understanding of Business and so then I went on to do Level 3 in Business. I have gained confidence, knowledge and multiple skills throughout the course and It has helped me to understand what I want to do in the future.
