The NVQ Level 4 in Management is for those managers whose job role affords them personal responsibility and autonomy. It can be in any sector that involves management and leadership responsibilities. At Level 4, the learner can expect to be a middle manager and to hold a more central management role. They will have the ability and the opportunity within their job role to demonstrate a wide range of recognisable management and leadership skills and the management of business processes. This qualification may also suit individuals whose work is mainly related to managing projects or technical matters, as well as those who manage people.
The NVQ is related directly to a job role and requires learners to step back and reflect on their performance at work, review working practices and identify any improvements they can make. It provides a personal development opportunity and enhances efficiency within organisations. This programme will run on an individual basis and the assessor will guide on how to build a portfolio of evidence which reflects ability to manage at this level.
Candidates must achieve a minimum of 53 credits. Completion of the mandatory units will provide 17 credits. The remainder will be achieved by completing a selection of optional units (depending on credit value and rules of combination). The assessor will guide on the selection of appropriate units.

The assessor will help to identify the most appropriate units for the learner’s individual role. Our NVQs are fully supported through our online portfolio system (OneFile). Candidates have access to their portfolio online in order to upload work, view progress to date (shown as a total percentage) and to contact their dedicated assessor.
The portfolio can be accessed at any time, e.g. at home or in the workplace which makes the submission of work much simpler.
The assessor will assess in your workplace, they will provide an induction onto the online portfolio and through subsequent contact, will carry out observations at work, obtain testimonies from colleagues and carry out professional discussions, they will set knowledge questions and use appropriate work product as well as other appropriate assessment methods.
There are progression opportunities onto the Level 5 NVQ Diploma in Management or other appropriate management qualification, if within appropriate management position.
