Course Overview

This is an essential module that is typically undertaken by learners who have ECDL Level 2 and wish to progress to ECDL Advanced Level 3. It is also suitable for anyone who wishes to develop skills in Microsoft Access to develop databases that incorporate tables, queries, forms and reports. It may be that there is a requirement to store data in a system that enables it to be stored, retrieved, searched and filtered, andthis course will enable the development of skills to enable this to be created.

The course covers:

  • How a database is organised and operates
  • Create a simple database and view the database content in various modes
  • Create a table, define and modify fields and properties
  • Enter and edit data
  • Sort and filter a table or form
  • Create, modify and run queries
  • Create forms to enter, modify and amend records
  • Create routine reports and prepare outputs for distribution

Assessment Methods

An exam either using simulation software or in-house for each of the modules, lots of practice, with a number of resit opportunities if needed.

Many leaners have built so much confidence that they progress to the next course – ECDL Advanced at Level 3, assuming they already have the full ECDL qualification at Level 2, then ECDL Advanced at Level 3.
