Course Overview

This qualification is designed for learners aged 18+ who want to learn about people practice/HR.

This entry-level qualification is perforect for those who:

  • Want to move into a people professional/HR role
  • Are working in a people professional role/HR role
  • Are a Team Leader/Manager who wants to develop their skills and knowledge from a HR/people professional perspective
  • Are currently working in a role such as Office Manager or PA and taking on more HR/people professional responsibilities.

CIPD membership gives you a badge of professionalism that’s internationally recognised. It showcases your knowledge and impact within the people profession.

This entry-level qualification will provide you with:

  • a solid grounding in People Practice
  • the knowledge, skills and behaviours and to deliver tasks that benefit your organisation at an operational level
  • the confidence to support positive change for your colleagues and organisation.

During your time with BTC this course will be taught as a combination of remote delivery and some classroom delivery with the option to remotely sign in if you are unable to attend. At all times you will have access to a suitable qualified and experienced tutor who will be able to support you in your learning.

This course can also be studied as part of the HR Support Apprenticeship L3.

Units of study/what is involved

  • Business, culture and change in context
    This unit considers the impact of external influences and how the digital and commercial environment shapes businesses and the culture within which they operate.
  • Principles of analytics
    This unit looks at how people professionals make both straightforward and complex choices as they carry out their roles
  • Core behaviours for people professionals
    This unit introduces the core behaviours for people professionals, focusing on ethical practice to create value.
  • Essentials of people practice.
    This unit introduces the fundamentals of people practice, ranging from the employee lifecycle to policies, regulation and law. It further explores a diverse array of specialist subjects such as recruitment, talent management, reward and learning and development, essential to a career in people practice.

Additional costs

CIPD student membership fees. This will be directly paid for by the student to the CIPD and please check with the CIPD for their current costs.

Although not obligatory, a course textbook.

Assessment Methods

Blended learning of remote and face to face delivery.

Written assessments using business formats such as business reports and powerpoint presentation.  One practical uint requires an interview role play.

Course Summary

Course Title People Practice Foundation Certificate CIPD Level 3
Entry Requirements

You must evidence literacy and numeracy ability at at least L2.  This
is needed to complete the assignments of the CIPD Level 3 Foundation Certificate
in People Practice. 

Attendance Requirements You will attend blended learning teaching sessions one afternoon a week during term time and be expected to complete written assignment work in self-study time at home. For the remote teaching sessions please ensure you have a computer with microphone and it would be helpful if you have a video link.

I decided to do Level 2 Business which I thoroughly enjoyed which made me chose to develop my understanding of Business and so then I went on to do Level 3 in Business. I have gained confidence, knowledge and multiple skills throughout the course and It has helped me to understand what I want to do in the future.
