Course Overview

This course is suitable for those with some experience of sugarcraft and cake decoration looking to extend their skills. The course is run by an experienced sugarcraft tutor and professional wedding cake designer. The course cost includes the cutters, tape and tools you will need to carry on at home. Learn the skills and techniques to make a display of Sweet Peas, Anemonie and Ruscus foliage and arrange on a Gold Floral Hoop. Learn how to cover deep dummy cakes creating super sharp edges and how to apply edible flakes to create a stunning sparkle effect. Learn how to make a David Austin Rose with Eucalyptus foliage and arrange and place on your tiered cakes suitable for any wedding or special birthday celebration.

Over the first four weeks of the course you will create a display of sugar flower Sweet Peas, Anemonie and Ruscus foliage. You will learn how each flower and leaf layer is made and assembled, how to apply dust using edible petal dust to create depth and colour to enhance your flowers and foliage and arrange on a gold floral hoop.

The next five weeks will be spent creating a David Austin Rose with two sprigs of Ecualyptus. Cover two deep cake dummies creating super sharp edges and adding edible flakes to create a stunning sparkle effect.

Finally you will learn how to place and arrange your sugar flowers on your tiered cakes to a professional standard. The tutor will provide demonstrations and feedback to ensure you know how to accomplish each stage of the process and give you ample time in which to do it.

For those that have not attended the 20 week sugarcraft course, costs of approx £10 will be required to cover the additional cutters and vieners needed. Learners will need a block of dry oasis or polystyrene cake dummy, a deep box with lid and some packing materials to safely transport your developing sugarcraft flowers.
