Course Overview

This qualification is designed to develop knowledge and awareness of health and safety for learners who are working in or preparing to work in food manufacturing or in food supply chain operative role. It has been designed to cover all aspects of the food supply chain industry

Units of study/what is involved

• Know the roles and responsibilities for health and safety in a food supply chain business
• Know how risk assessments contribute to health and safety in a food supply chain business
• Know how to control risks arising from hazards in a food supply chain business
• Know how to respond to health and safety incidents in a food supply chain business

SKILL UP SPRINGBOARD SPRINGS INTO ACTION

Springboard is offering Somerset’s small and medium-sized businesses access to free short courses for their staff.
Funded by the European Social Fund (ESF), the courses can provide a taster of a new topic area, or gentle (re)introduction to formal learning, via an accredited unit of a full qualification.

To be eligible to join the Springboard programme, you must:

• Be over the age of 18.
• Be in employment, including full time, part-time and self-employment, but
  not anybody on a 0-hour contract.
• Be working for a business based within the Somerset County Council
  authority area.
• Have the right to work in the UK.
