Course Overview

This qualification is designed for learners who are working in, or preparing to work in food manufacturing or in any point in the food supply chain in operative, supervisory or management roles. The aim of this qualification

Units of study/what is involved

  • Understand the role and responsibilities of the food business operator, the supervisor and employees in ensuring compliance with food safety legislation
  • Understand the supervisor’s role in identifying food safety hazards
  • Understand the supervisor’s role in implementing food safety controls and monitoring food safety
  • Understand the supervisor’s role in implementing a documented food safety management system


SKILL UP SPRINGBOARD SPRINGS INTO ACTION

Springboard is offering Somerset’s small and medium-sized businesses access to free short courses for their staff.
Funded by the European Social Fund (ESF), the courses can provide a taster of a new topic area, or gentle (re)introduction to formal learning, via an accredited unit of a full qualification.

To be eligible to join the Springboard programme, you must:

  • Be over the age of 18.
  • Be in employment, including full time, part-time and self-employment, but
    not anybody on a 0-hour contract.
  • Be working for a business based within the Somerset County Council
    authority area.
  • Have the right to work in the UK.

Assessment Methods

Face to face learning over 4 1 day sessions.
