Course Overview

This course is for anyone who requires training in operating an Articulated Chassis or anyone who is experienced and requires testing.

You do not need to have done any previous training.

On this course covers:

• Operating the machine to a minimum standard
• Fitting and operating ancillary equipment
• Siting the machine safely and efficiently
• Carrying out minor adjustments and routine servicing procedures
• Preparing the machine for travelling on the public highway
• The capabilities of each machine, its purpose and limitations
• All safety precautions necessary for the correct operation of the machine
• How diesel engines work and how various parts of the machine operate
• Which routine adjustments and servicing procedures are necessary, and how to carry them out.

Assessment Methods

• Theory Test – a professional discussion carried out on a one-to-one basis with the CPCS tester. You must pass this test in order to take the practical test.
• Practical Test.

Progression Options

Once you have your red CPCS trained operator card, you have two years to register for and complete your NVQ Plant Operations – Articulated Chassis. When this is completed you will be able to apply for a Blue CPCS Competent Operator card.
