IT User Skills Distance Learning Level 2 - Bridgwater & Taunton College

Course Overview

The duration of the course is 16-20 weeks. Guided learning hours are 8-10 hours per week dependent upon knowledge of the subject.

The course is for anyone who wants to build upon their existing IT and Internet skills to gain a practical qualification that is also attractive to employers.

The programme will allow you to learn at your own pace online, in your own home or workplace at a time that is convenient to you. Throughout your course you will also be supported by an online tutor.

As part of this course you will study four mandatory units:

Word processing software
Session 1 Entering information into documents
Session 2 Managing documents
Session 3 Word processing editing tools
Session 4 Structure and layout
Session 5 Combining information
Session 6 Document quality control

UNIT 2

Presentation software
Session 1 Entering information into presentations
Session 2 Managing presentations
Session 3 Presentation editing tools
Session 4 Slide formatting
Session 5 Animating your presentation
Session 6 Preparing your presentation

UNIT 3

Spread sheet software
Session 1 Creating a spread sheet
Session 2 Managing spread sheets
Session 3 Analysing data
Session 4 Formatting and presenting data
Session 5 Charts and graphs
Session 6 Spread sheet quality control

UNIT 4

Improving productivity using IT
Session 1 Approaching a task
Session 2 Planning work using IT
Session 3 Evaluating the use of IT
Session 4 Improving productivity and efficiency

Assessment Methods

Assessments are due at the end of each unit. Your tutor will assess your work and build up your portfolio of evidence of learning.

A certificate will be awarded on satisfactory submission of evidence of learning for the units studied.

Entry Requirements

Eligibility for FREE Level 2 Distance Learning courses:



  • Learners must be aged 19 years or over as at 31/08/19

  • Must have lived in the EU for the last three years

  • Must currently reside in England, in a postal code outside of Greater
    Manchester, Liverpool City, Cambridge & Peterborough, Tees Valley and the
    West Midlands

  • If aged 19-23, must hold a full Level 2 qualification or above in any
    subject (i.e QCF Diploma Level 2, five GCSEs/O Levels grade A-C, two or three.
    AS Levels, CSE grade 1 5 or more, one A Level, QCF Certificate, GNVQ
    Intermediate, First Certificate or Principle of Learning Level 2). If aged 24+
    no qualifications are required.

An administration fee will be incurred if you withdraw from the
course


You will need a PC with Internet connection.


A full Microsoft Office package downloaded onto
your computer is required (Version 2007 or above)


The Microsoft Office package cannot be a starter or trial package. The
Microsoft Open Office (a web-based package) is not
compatible.
