Thispart-timecourse is for those who are practical learners and like working with timber and creating things with a hands-on approach. For those already in the trade it can enhance existing skills.
The course is an introduction to safe working and provides a greater understanding of the building trades. It shows learners how to make the most of this wonderful material, developing hand skills, plus how to care and use the hand tools of the trade, leading to the care and use of power tools.
Learners will be taught basic techniques of working with timber, and understand how the common joints are made. The course also covers information on how trees and timber have influenced our history and modern world.
Assessments occur in the College throughout the year.
