They are flexible programmes and learners will have the opportunity to be involved in planning learning activities in their workplace.

You will study all aspects of child care and learning including:

  • Care and development
  • Working safely with young children
  • Healthy environments
  • Learning through play

You will also have the opportunity to complete a paediatric first aid course.

The College has excellent relationships with early years employers in the area and we provide a supportive learning environment. The teaching staff and assessors have recent, relevant workplace experience and enjoy the opportunity to nurture new practitioners.

Assessment Methods

There are no written exams, instead you build a portfolio which will include coursework and practical assessments in your workplace. You may be required to sit exams for GCSEs in English and Maths, and Functional Skills Level 2 in ICT if they do not already have these.

Progression Options

Former learners have progressed into permanent positions in early years settings.

I found the entire experience of studying my Level 2 course really rewarding, that I decided to further my knowledge by completing a Level 3 course. I’m continually learning new skills and it’s really helping my professional development in the workplace.
