Course Overview

You need to be employed to start an Apprenticeship. Please visit our vacancy page or contact 01278 441234 if you have an employer. If you are unable to secure employment, you could enrol on a full-time study programme and transfer to an Apprenticeship at a later date. Please apply for a full-time course as your second option.

This Apprenticeship is designed to be suitable for those who wish to study while earning a salary in paid employment. It is assessed in a work situation and combines knowledge and practical skills.It is aflexible programme andyou will have the opportunity to be involved in planning learning activities and key-working in your workplace.

You will complete the following components::

  • Level 3 Diploma for the Early Years Practitioner (Early Years Educator)
  • Employment rightsand responsibilities
  • Functional Skills Level 2 in English, maths and ICT
  • Personal learning and thinking skills

The College has excellent relationships with early years employers in the area and we provide a supportive learning environment at College. The teaching staff and assessors have recent, relevant workplace experience and enjoy the opportunity to nurture new practitioners.

Assessment Methods

There are no written exams, instead you build a portfolio which will include coursework and practical assessments in your workplace. You may be required to sit exams for GCSEs in English and maths, and Functional Skills Level 2 in ICT if they do not already have these.

Progression Options

Former learners have progressed into permanent positions in early years settings, or you could apply to do the CACHE Level 4 Certificate for the Early Years Advanced Practitioner or the Sector Endorsed (Early Years) Foundation Degree.
