Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare Diploma Level 5 - Bridgwater & Taunton College

Course Overview

This course is suitable for learners aged 19 years and over, who are leading and managing others in residential children’s homes in England. It is a new qualification, recently introduced by Skills for Care and Development. It is an excellent way to gain a nationally recognised Level 5 qualification whilst working in the residential childcare sector.

This qualification includes underpinning knowledge regarding children and young people’s development, how to lead practice in supporting positive outcomes for children and young people, how to manage risks in residential childcare, and how to lead a service that supports children and young people who have experienced harm or abuse.

This is an ideal opportunity for residential staff to study while working. It can be delivered in the workplace, rather than travelling to College premises to study. It is recognised by Ofsted as an appropriate qualification for the residential childcare sector.

Assessment Methods

A variety of methods can be used for gathering evidence towards a QCF portfolio, including assignments, case studies, direct observations, professional discussions, work products and reflective accounts.

Progression Options

Learners can progress into the relevant job role of registered manager.
