In todays world, engineers work in an environment that encompasses the use of cutting edge technologies and innovative solutions.As an Engineer you could find yourself designing the next generation of smartphones, programming robots, manufacturing components for fighter jets or developing sustainable energy. Study engineering and you could work within a variety of engineering disciplines such as product design, aerospace, manufacturing, electrical and electronics, communications, mechanical, nuclear and energy, environment or transport.
You may want to combine this qualification with an A Level in Maths or Physics.

University Centre Somerset offers a Foundation Degree in Mechanical Engineering leading on to a BEng or MEng Mechanical Engineering Degree awarded by The University of the West of England. Former students have become Design Engineers, Aerospace Engineers and have moved into employment with the Ministry of Defence, Thales, Rolls-Royce Aerospace and EDF Energy.

I found the entire experience of studying my Level 2 course really rewarding, that I decided to further my knowledge by completing a Level 3 course. I’m continually learning new skills and it’s really helping my professional development in the workplace.
