Emergency First Aid at Work (Land-based) Level 3 Award - Bridgwater & Taunton College

Course Overview

This qualification is designed to provide you with the knowledge and skills to be able to respond to first aid situations and administer first aid in the workplace.

This course will cover:

  • First aid in the workplace
  • The roles and responsibilities of a first aider
  • Emergency action
  • Breathing and circulation
  • Casualty assessment
  • Resuscitation
  • Airway obstruction
  • Disorders of the circulation
  • Wounds and bleeding
  • Burns and scalds

Assessment is done by continuous observation and questioning during the course. Upon successful completion of this course, you will receive an Emergency First Aid at Work certificate which is valid for three years. This course meets the requirements specified by the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981.

If you are already enrolled on a full-time course at the College, you may need to attend outside of your current timetable.

In the unlikely event that your course is cancelled, we will refund your fees. However, these courses are run on viable numbers and if you choose to cancel or withdraw from your course, full fees are payable, unless we can fill your space.

  • Level 2 Principles of Safe Handling and Application of Pesticides (PA1)
  • Level 2 Award in Chainsaw Maintenance and Cross-Cutting (CS30)
  • Level 2 Award in Tree Climbing and Rescue (CS38)
  • Level 2 Award in the Safe Use of a Manually Fed Wood-Chipper
  • Level 2 Award in the Safe Use of Ride-On Self Propelled Mowers
  • Level 2 Award in the Safe Use of Brush-Cutters and Trimmers
  • Level 2 Certificate of Competence in the Safe Use of Hand-Held Hedge Cutters

  • There are no entry requirements, although you must be 16 years old or over
    to do this course.

  • There is an element of communication (discussing, presenting, reading and
    writing) involved and you should have basic skills in communication pitched at
    level 2.
