Course Overview

This apprenticeship is designed for those who want to work in the food and drink manufacturing industry. It is wide ranging and includes diverse roles from agronomy and food production through to buying, product development, marketing and commercial sales. There are many associated roles such as financial, human resources, laboratory based, nutrition and health or sensory analysis.

Core modules may include:

  • Product quality
  • Food safety
  • Maintaining safety standards in production
  • Raw materials
  • Weighing and mixing
  • Product development

Assessment Methods

Assessment take place at the end of the apprenticeship in the form of a multiple choice test, an observation in the workplace, professional discussion and presentation of a work project. You are also continuously assessed in your workplace to monitor your learning and development as an operator in the food business.

Progression Options

On successful completion, you could progress to higher education or find employment in the food industry.

Entry Requirements

There are no entry requirements, but your English and maths will be
assessed to determine the appropriate level of study. If you do not already hold
GCSE maths and English at grade 4 (C), you will complete a functional skills
programme during your learning.
