Course Overview

This 8 week training course has been designed for people who wish to retrain to gain practical skills and knowledge in the clinical skills that enable patients to be discharged from hospital into social care settings. The course will also prepare them for progression onto an apprenticeship, further study or employment in the social care sector.

Supporting clinical discharge of vulnerable patients into social care is a growing need that requires training that installs and develops a wide range of knowledge and practical skills. It can cover everything from basic life support to peg feeding, from understanding how to safeguard vulnerable adults to knowing how to work within the requirements for confidentiality.

The course will be delivered using a blended approach of online and face to face sessions as well as time for independent study. Online classes will provide you with the theory behind topics, while face to face group sessions will provide opportunity to learn hands on clinical skills.

On completion of the Clinical Skills Accelerator Bootcamp, you will have gained essential technical and professional clinical skills to support hospital discharge, as well as underpinning knowledge, including accredited units, at level 3.

This bootcamp will give you the tools to explore these job opportunities following successful completion of the course.

Additional Costs:

Should any specific equipment be needed for the course, this will be provided for you. However, you will be expected to have access to a computer and the internet to complete online learning.

Assessment Methods

Assessment will be varied forms of internal assessments. These include written coursework, in-class tests and practical work.

Progression Options

Following this 8 week bootcamp you will be ready to progress on to further study or employment in the sector. During the course there will be opportunities to hear from employers about current vacancies which you would then be encouraged to apply for subject to successful completion of the course. Entry Requirements

No formal qualifications are required although a good standard of education is necessary for successful completion of the course.

You will need access to a laptop or computer to be able to access online sessions and use an e-portfolio.

All applicants will require an interview and a BKSB initial assessment of Level 1 or above.

The staff have been very supportive they will do anything to help whether it be staying late or putting in 100% to make the lessons more suited to you. The staff have backgrounds in the specific course in which you want to take which helps to get another person’s view on what it’s like to work in the sector and also the course covers all areas of the subject and there is nothing that isn’t covered within the syllabus and modules.
