On this course you will study all aspects of dance and aspects of the performing arts including contemporary dance, jazz dance, site specific, audition techniques and relevant industry skills.
You will also study historical and contemporary dance work, learn and perform choreographed pieces and devise exciting new work of your own. These will be performed in public in the McMillan Theatre as well as the region’s other venues. The course has a strong history of working with the top dance practitioners and schools, and professionals regularly deliver workshops, with students also accessing training nationally and internationally during the course.

This course includes trips and visits, with previous students visiting New York, Disneyland Paris and Mississippi. Live performance is a valuable experience and students are encouraged to watch a variety of shows and performances.
Assessment is via coursework based on assignments set in each unit. Assignments involve performance projects, individual research and group work. On successful completion of the course, you will be awarded an overall distinction, merit or pass grade.
The Colleges dance students regularly progress to some of the best known universities for performing arts in the country. These have included London Contemporary Dance School, LIPA and Bird College.
Dance students are also accepted on a wide range of other courses, or employed in the entertainment or leisure industries. Previous students have also been employed by organisations within the performance arts industry or gone on to teaching qualifications.
