Personal Training Diploma (part-time) Level 3 - Bridgwater & Taunton College

Course Overview

This qualification has been designed for gym instructors wishing to find employment in the health and fitness sector as a personal trainer where they can also apply the additional business skills and knowledge they will have achieved.

The qualification will provide a combination of knowledge and skills to prescribe, plan and deliver safe and effective exercise programmes and personal training sessions to a range of clients.

  • Applied anatomy and physiology
  • Principles of nutrition
  • Lifestyle, health and wellbeing
  • Health and fitness behaviours in clients
  • Programme design and delivery for personal training
  • Business acumen

Assessment Methods

Assessment is through multiple choice exams, practical assessments and a portfolio of evidence and assignments.

Progression Options

On successful completion, you could continue your studies by enrolling on a Diploma in Exercise Referral or Sports Massage Therapy. Alternatively, you could progress to either the Level 4 Certificate in Advanced Fitness Instructing or Level 4 Certificate in Strength & Conditioning. There is also an Advanced Apprenticeship in Exercise & Fitness available if you prefer to earn while you learn.

Although the course was challenging it was great to work with real athletes and at different commercial establishments in the area. Making business contacts is crucial in this industry and the experiences I got from this course allowed me to network with various companies and encourage me to achieve my ambitions. Throughout my course I felt proud of the work I carried out with my clients, which was definitely my greatest achievement.
