Course Overview

Administration skills are crucial to the effectiveness and efficiency of any organisation, and these qualifications demonstrate a thorough understanding of current theory and practice, which is respected and recognised by practitioners and employers alike.

As an Apprentice, you may work as an administrator, office junior, receptionist, or junior secretary. Tasks vary depending on the level and sector in which you are employed and may include producing documents, preparing notes, organising and co-ordinating events and meetings, developing and delivering presentations and managing projects.

The course includes a tutorial programme that covers subjects such as email etiquette, professional letter writing, time management and personal guidance on equality and diversity, safeguarding and money matters.

You will study mandatory and optional units such as:

· Communication in a business environment

· Principles of providing administrative services

· Principles of business document production and information management

· Understand employer organisation

· Manage personal performance and development

· Develop working relationships with colleagues

Assessment Methods

Assessment takes place the workplace by an Assessor who has specific sector knowledge. You will build an online portfolio using various assessment methods. Your knowledge will be assessed via online tests after each learning outcome has been taught and you feel ready to sit a multiple choice exam.

Progression Options

On successful completion of the Level 2 Apprentices, you could progress to the Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship in Business & Administration or other Level 3 qualifications. The majority of apprentices can expect to be offered a permanent contract with their employer with endless progression opportunities going forward.

Entry Requirements

You need five GCSEs in the A* to E or 9 to 2 range with English and
Maths, or an appropriate Level 1 qualification. You will be invited to attend an
interview to assess your suitability for the course and sit an initial
assessment in order to determine the appropriate level of study for
you.


An assessment of your job role will be made to ensure there is
enough scope and responsibility for you to achieve the qualification as it is
based on levels of competence.
