Course Overview

The Software Developer role is to understand a client’s requirements as provided in design specifications and then build and test high-quality code solutions to deliver the best outcome. The role involves:

  • Interacting with internal and external stakeholders (to understand their needs and test the developed software developed)
  • Interpreting design documentation and specifications
  • Developing software solutions across the full software development life cycle from research and
  • Development, through continuous improvement, to product/service retirement working both autonomously and as part of wider teams

Learners will infill on the University Centre Somerset foundation degree programme which has been awarded higher Technical Qualification status, HTQ status is a quality mark by the Institute for Aprrenticeships and Technical Education to indicate their alignment to employer-led occupational standards. This will also give learners the option upon completion to also acquire a foundation degree and potentially progress onto a BSc programme.
