This course is suitable for anyone who is employed full-time in the horse industry and who wishes to study horse care in their work place rather than attending a full-time college course.
Whilst at work you will receive comprehensive practical training that will enable you to carry out the jobs required by your employer, and achieve a Level 2 Diploma in Work-Based Horse Care. You will be visited at the workplace by a Work Based Assessor, to check on your progress, and to ensure that you are building evidence towards your final qualification.
You will undertake a range of units that will enable you to work effectively and safely with horses, and some students may also be given the opportunity to complete ridden units.
To be successful, you must complete a range of mandatory and optional units.

Assessment includes written coursework, an online portfolio, expert witness statements provided by employer and a practical assessment in the workplace.
Having successfully completed this course, you can progress to the Level 3 qualification. Alternatively you may choose to continue to work within your current employment and use the knowledge you have gained to move into a supervisory position.

You need five GCSEs in the A* to E or 9 to 2 range or other equivalent qualifications. Industry experience is required and full-time employment within an horse care sector is essential. You will be invited to attend an interview to assess your suitability for the course.
