This course offers you the ability to develop your technical skills and marketing approaches in order to become a more effective digital marketer. As you willbe working within a suitable digital marketing role,you will have the opportunity to apply the knowledge and varied styles ascertained in the classroom to develop applicable skill sets and cultivate fresh operational practices.

The Level 3 Digital Marketer Apprenticeship standard covers the principles of marketing as well as the technical aspects that allow digital marketers to excel in the contemporary consumer market.

As a Digital Marketer your role is to define, design, build and implement digital campaigns across a variety of online and social media platforms. The main objective of this role if to optimise customer procurement whilst still offering appealing content to existing customers. Understanding the product market is a vital element of the digital marketer and applying this understanding to meaningful, mixed media campaigns that draws positive and lucrative attention to a product, product line and/or company.

A Digital Marketer will typically work as part of a team, in which they will assume responsibility for the marketing plan and subsequent campaign.The knowledge aspects of this course are focused around both the technical skill sets necessary to optimise a practitioners interactions with online platforms and the marketing principles that will tie together technical ability and business minded, marketing strategies.

As part of this qualification,you undertake a nationally recognised vendor qualification that will enhance their learning provision.You benefit from full day release from a fully qualified lecturer delivering modules devised by the BCS to compliment the role of a Digital Marketer. Apprentices are delegated time to haveone-to-one tutor time where necessary as well as benefit from the colleges tutorial provision that encourages personal grown as well as academic.

Topics include:

  • Technical competencies: Written communication, Research, Technologies, Data analysis, customer service, problem solving, analysis, implementation, use of digital tools, use of digital analytic tools, interpreting developments and business information.
  • Technical knowledge and understanding: Understanding of the following: Principles of coding, marketing principles, customer lifecycle, customer relationships, effective team working, digital and social marketing principles, search marketing and SEO, responding to a business environment, digital etiquette, digital platform integration and security levels over online platforms.
  • Underpinning skills, attitudes and behaviours: Logical and creative thinking skills, analytical and problem solving, independent working, using own initiative, organisation of approach, working collaboratively, developing effective communication and maintaining a professional environment.

Assessment Methods

Technical knowledge and understanding is assessed on programme through a combination of Ofqual-regulated knowledge modules and specified vendor and professional qualifications. You will prepare for an end point assessment which will include a portfolio, a project, employer reference and a structured interview with an independent assessor.

Progression Options

On successful completion you could progress to other, higher level, digital industry apprenticeships which provide a wide range of progression opportunities, Digital Marketer, Web data analyst, search engine optimiser etc. Roles or occupations may include (but are not limited to) Content Technician, SEO Analyst, Online Trading Analyst, Social Media technician and UI/UX Designer.

Entry Requirements

Individual employers set the selection criteria, but this is likely to include five GCSEs, (especially English, maths and a science or technology subject), a relevant Level 2 Apprenticeship, other relevant qualifications and experience or an aptitude test with a focus on IT skills.
