If you are looking to start a career within the dog grooming industry, then this is qualification is aimed at you.
This qualification is suitable for anyone employed or who wishes to be employed in a dog grooming salon who wishes to gain the practical skills, knowledge and qualification to begin a career as a dog groomer.
You will undertake training at our Cannington campus one day a week at our fully equipped dog grooming salon. You will be taught by experienced qualified dog groomers/lecturers who will cover all aspects of theory and practical training you require to achieve this qualification and apply to industry.

Units of study/what is involved
This qualification covers the skills you will need to work as a Dog Grooming Assistant. Examples of content covered:
Assessment includes written coursework, an online portfolio, expert witness statements provided by employer and a practical assessment in the workplace.
College teaching will include practical tuition in the purpose built salon and classroom based sessions to cover theory.
Achievement of this qualification demonstrates to an employer/the public that you have the necessary technical skills and knowledge they are looking for when recruiting/seeking the services of a Dog Grooming Assistant.
Having successfully completed this course, you can progress to the Level 3 qualification. Alternatively you may choose to continue to work within your current employment and use the knowledge you have gained to move into a supervisory position. You could progress to working for a dog grooming business or franchise, and in a salon or a mobile grooming unit.

It’s a very hands-on course and you work with a variety to animals. All the staff are really helpful and the practical aspect of the qualification reinforces what we learn about welfare, housing, laws, animal care and training.
