Course Overview

This course is suitable for those with a keen interest in beauty therapy and an enthusiasm and commitment to working in the industry.

Units include theoretical knowledge and practical understanding. These may include:

  • Anatomy and physiology
  • Hair removal treatments
  • Facial and skin analysis treatments
  • Manicure and pedicure services
  • Client care and communication
  • Promoting products and services
  • Reception duties
  • Working in the beauty industry
  • Create an image

You will be taught in class contact sessions including lectures, tutorials and workshops.

Assessment Methods

Assessment is ongoing and through end of unit online theory examinations, continual practical assessment on clients within a realistic working environment, as well as presentations and assignments.

Progression Options

You could progress to a Level 3 Diploma in Beauty Therapy or Complementary Therapies, a business or media make-up course, or short courses. Alternatively, you could find employment in beauty salons or spas, become self-employed therapist.

Previous students have worked at many local businesses including Cedar Falls, Rookery Manor, The Cleve and Spa Experience, as well as working as International Spa Therapists on Steiner Cruise liners after completing the Level 3 Diploma in Beauty Therapy.

Entry Requirements

You need five GCSEs in the 9 to 3 range including English, maths and science, or an appropriate Level 1 qualification. Entry is also subject to a successful interview.
