If you enjoy working with children and considering a career in teaching or early years, this challenging and exciting course may be for you. The T Level focuses on education and childcare from 0 to 19 including child development and behaviours, alongside a range of theoretical approaches and knowledge to support your understanding for a career in education. The course blends high-level academic theory with practical skills and a substantial industry placement.

In your second year, you focus further on your occupational specialism in early years (0 to 7). Study knowledge and skills including:
Alongside attending College, you attend a weekly industry placement in a school or nursery throughout your course.
You will be assessed through written and practical examinations, employer projects, group work, presentations and analysis.
On successful completion, you could find employment in an early years setting such as primary education or nursery as a fully qualified Level 3 Early Years Educator. Many of our students progress to complete teaching degrees or early childhood degrees at university. Alternatively, you could progress to study a Higher or Degree Apprenticeship, degree or higher level technical qualification. Some students also progress into employment or higher education in Special Educational Needs.

You need five GCSEs in the 9 to 4 range with grade 5 in English and grade 4 in maths and science at grade 4, as well as a keen interest in the topic. Entry is subject to a successful interview and an enhanced DBS.
We ask that you have at least one week work experience in an education or childcare setting before starting the course, as the industry placement is such a crucial aspect of the T Level.
If you have not achieved the required grades to start a T Level, you could complete a tailored transition programme designed to provide you with the knowledge, skills and behaviours to progress to the Level 3 T Level, subject to your GCSEs.
I didn’t know anyone when I started but quickly make new friendships and have gained in confidence. The work experience helped with that, as well as the staff being really supportive.
