Working in Partnership with EDF an excellent opportunity has been developed in year one on this programme for aspiring future Engineers and Scientists called the EDF Nuclear Engineering Sponsored Study Programme.
This exceptional opportunity that EDF are offering will gave you access to a sponsored Study Programme which has been designed and developed to progress you into the sector as an apprentice with the opportunity of a guaranteed EDF Apprenticeship Interview, upon successful completion at the end of your first year.
Delivered in the state-of-the-art National College for Nuclear will provide you with a unique experience and environment to study and pursue a successful career in the energy sector. This course will appeal to those with a keen interest in engineering, technology and science. The curriculum has been designed in partnership with employers and delivered in the state-of-the-art National College for Nuclear, providing you with the experience and recognised qualifications to pursue a successful career in the sector.
You will study a combination of theory, applied theory and practical subjects across a broad range including:
Most subjects are internally assessed through assignments graded at Pass, Merit and Distinction depending on the quality of the work. Some units are externally assessed using different methods, either through time constrained exams or external controlled assessments.
Year one on the programme is designed to enable you to gain an apprentice with EDF and/or their partners. All successful students will be guaranteed an EDF interview for the MOET Apprenticeship vacancies that are available. For those that don’t secure an Apprenticeship you will be invited to continue into a second year with us at the National College for Nuclear working alongside apprentices and other professionals to gain a Level 3 BTEC Extended Diploma in Engineering. Successful completion of this second year will enable students to apply for Apprenticeships or direct entry onto our Nuclear Degree (BEng) Fulltime, Nuclear Degree (BEng) Apprenticeships, or our other employer Apprenticeship opportunities.

Entry Requirements |
You need five GCSEs in the 9 to 4 range including Higher Maths at grade 5 or above. Alternatively, an appropriate Level 2 qualification with an overall Merit grade that includes Higher Maths is acceptable. |
