This one-year course will support your progression on to the T Level in Health here at BTC. It is for individuals who may not have met the grade requirements for the T Level or who need to develop further before starting this exciting programme. This T Level Transition course has been designed specifically by employers to introduce you to the T level content and provide an effective step up in knowledge and skills you need to be successful on our T Level programme in Health.

As reflected in the T level content for health and science the T level Transition programme has a significant amount of scientific content to enable progression to the T Level.
If you are looking to complete an Apprenticeship or gain employment at the end of your college course, please apply for the Level 2 Health and Social Care course running out of our Bridgwater campus.
This course is classroom based, but also includes 100 hours in the workplace that allows you to practically apply your study of the sector in a range of suitable health and social care settings. This will prepare you for the 45 days that need to be completed on the T Level as well as improving your knowledge and developing key employment skills.
Assessment is through a portfolio of evidence using a range of assessment methods. These may include assignments, individual research, project work, presentations, in-class tests and exams, practical work in placement and in college.
On successful completion of the course as well as meeting the grade and GCSE requirements, you could progress on to the T Level in Health (Nursing) and onwards on to Nursing Degrees at University Centre Somerset.

You need five GCSEs in the 9 to 3 range including English Language, maths and science. You will need a keen interest in science and understand how science underpins health and care practice. You will need an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, with no disclosures, as you will complete work placement in a health or healthcare science setting as part of your course.
My tutors have helped me think about my future and whether I want to progress to the Level 3 qualification or start an Apprenticeship at Musgrove Park Hospital. Either option leads me to university and becoming a fully qualified paediatric nurse.
