Course Overview

This one-year bespoke Level 2course will support your progression to the T Level in Health & Science or directly into apprenticeships or employment. The course has been designed to help you develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours you need to be successful on a T Level programmeand help prepare for you for your next step as well into the sector.

You may cover aspects including:

  • Human growth and development
  • Working in health and social care
  • Equality, diversity and rights in health and social care
  • Communication in health and social care
  • Creative activities in health and social care
  • Common care disorders

This course is mainly classroom based, but includes 100 hours in a health and social care workplace that allows you to practically apply your study of the sector in a range of suitable settings. This will prepare you for the 45 days that needs to be completed on the T Level, as well as improve your knowledge and develop key employment skills and prepare you for employment or an Apprenticeship within the sector.

Assessment Methods

Assessment is through a portfolio of evidence using a range of assessment methods. These may include assignments, individual research, project work, presentations and written assignments, as well as observation of you in the workplace and feedback from your placement providers.

Progression Options

On successful completion of the course and meeting the grade and GCSE requirements, you could progress to the Health & Science T Level or other Level 3 course at BTC. Alternatively, you could find employment as a Care Assistant, Support Worker, Healthcare Assistant, or start an Apprenticeship with BTC in health and social care or a related field.

Spotlight

My tutors have helped me think about my future and whether I want to progress to the Level 3 qualification or start an Apprenticeship at Musgrove Park Hospital. Either option leads me to university and becoming a fully qualified paediatric nurse.
