An exciting two-day experience with engaging activities designed to explore the professional careers of Accounting and Legal Services.
For young people aged 14-16
Designed to be interactive, informative, and fun, this summer school will give potential learners a real sense of what studying and working in Accounting or Legal Services professions may involve.
A few examples of the types of activities to look forward to include:
Mystery of the Missing Millions
Introduce students to forensic accounting and financial analysis.
Participants will work in small groups to solve a fictional case involving embezzlement within a company. They’ll analyse financial statements, identify discrepancies, and piece together evidence to find the culprit. This hands-on activity aims to highlight some of the analytical and detective skills used in accounting.
Mock Trial Experience
Give students a taste of the legal world through a mock trial.
Students will be divided into roles (lawyers, witnesses, jury, etc.) and participate in a simulated court case. They’ll prepare their arguments, present evidence, and make their case in front of a mock judge. This activity showcases the critical thinking, public speaking, and strategic planning involved in legal services.
Financial Literacy Bootcamp
Learn skills and highlight the importance of accounting knowledge.
This workshop will cover essential topics such as budgeting, personal finance management, and basic accounting principles. Students will participate in interactive exercises like creating a budget. This demonstrates how accounting skills are applicable in everyday life and business.
Legal Debates and Negotiation Skills
Develop debating and negotiation skills.
Participants will engage in structured debates on various legal and ethical issues. They will also participate in negotiation simulations where they must reach an agreement on a given scenario. This activity emphasises the importance of persuasive communication and critical thinking in the legal field.
