If you're ready for an exciting and broad academic challenge, then studying A Levels in Bridgwater & Taunton College’s mature, supportive environment will prepare you for university, an apprenticeship or employment.
With over 600 students in our A Level community and a wide variety of subjects, we’re dedicated to designing bespoke programmes of study that focus on subjects you’re passionate about and with clear progression pathways. Your first year immerses you in each subject for six hours a week, and five hours in your second year. Alongside your three chosen subjects, A Level Enrichment forms the fourth element of your academic study programme. There’s a range of activities to take up including additional qualifications such as Core Maths, the European Computer Driving Licence or Extended Project. Alternatively, you could join the Debating Team, Honours Academy, Creative Writing or Critical Thinking group, or work towards the Duke of Edinburgh Award. If you love the arts, you could join the Animation, Design, Fashion, Media, Photography, Drama, Show Choir, Dance or Music Academy.
A Levels demand more individual, in-depth study than GCSEs, are the main route into higher education and are universally recognised by employers. They will provide you with a comprehensive knowledge of your chosen subjects and will help you develop a range of transferable skills, such as analysis and extended writing.
You don’t necessarily need to have studied a subject at GCSE level to take it at A Level. A Levels at Bridgwater & Taunton College are open to students who are under 19 on 31 August on their year of enrolment.
