Level 3 Games Development students had a fantastic opportunity to listen to a talk from Skyward Digital.

Skyward Digital are an independent games development company, founded by three graduate Bridgwater & Taunton College students.

Our students learnt about how the company first started up; the trials and tribulations of starting a company from scratch, how they could go about starting their own company and what it takes to succeed.

Skyward Digital also brought in their up and coming game “Buccaneers” which gave students exclusive first-hand experience of a game that isn’t released to the public at this time.

Once the presentation had come to a close students asked about work experience – something we are working with Skyward Digital on in order to offer students practical experience in the games industry.

Saul Rockett, Level 3 Games Development student, said,

 “It was really useful to learn from a real company about what mistakes have been made and how to avoid these. We also learnt how important certain areas are that we wouldn’t have necessarily thought about e.g. marketing.”
