This popular course involves a good mixture of critical analysis and practical production, allowing you to explore creative industries, experiment with modern technologies and develop your analytical and cultural awareness, setting you up as a multi-skilled and savvy future media expert. You will develop a coherent understanding of media forms. You study in excellent facilities at a professional standard using the full Creative Suite on Apple Mac computers. There are residential trips available and the opportunity to work on live briefs within the Media Academy.

You will need five GCSEs in the 9 to 5 range, including English. You also need to have an interest in all aspects of practical and theoretical applications of media, TV, film and popular culture.
You will be assessed through coursework and written examinations, with regular internal assessment taking place as the course unfolds. Your final A Level exam will be made up of two exams (70%) covering the entire programme at the end of year two and a coursework unit (30%).
A materials and studio fee is collected when you enrol and there are additional costs if you take part in residential trips. These can be purchased/paid for via the College online store when you enrol.
The wide use media and it’s transferability makes progression accessible. You will be able to pursue higher education opportunities in media across a range of sectors. You can also remain at the College and study our FdA Media Production at University Centre Somerset.
