Bridgwater College welcomed Iain Lee, radio presenter of talkRADIO, former broadcaster and comedian to its Bridgwater Centre last week. Iain spoke to staff and students about how he found stardom in the TV and radio industries and gave tips of how to be a successful Radio Presenter.

Iain’s career began performing stand-up comedy in London before rising to fame presenting the 11 O’ Clock Show on Channel 4 which launched Ali G, Ricky Gervais, Mackenzie Crook and more.

More of his recent TV works have included working alongside Rylan on Big Brother’s Bit On The Psych. He now currently presents a late night phone in show on talkRADIO and before this worked on over half a dozen radio stations including Radio 4, Capital and LBC.

Catherine Lawrence of Bridgwater College said,

“I emailed Iain a couple of months ago with a, perhaps, audacious request for him to come to Bridgwater and speak to our students. I was unsure how he would respond, but, I was delighted and somewhat surprised when he replied very quickly with a resounding yes! A few emails back and forth and we were good to go. Iain, very kindly, took time out of his busy schedule to meet with both staff and students at the college. His presentation was inspiring and emotive yet fun and compelling. Our students have benefitted hugely from his advice, especially at this time of year when exams are upon us! We are extremely grateful for this opportunity and thankful for Iain’s time and generosity.”

Iain said,

“The beauty of radio is that I get to work with people of all ages. One day I will be talking with a caller ten years of age and then Dennis, aged 92 will call and provide his thoughts. Radio is appealing to people of all ages and that is why I love what I do. Radio is a friend to the lonely, for celebration and to commiserate.”
