Pesticides
Pesticides are very widely and successful used in land-based industries, but they are potentially harmful substances and so it is essential that they are handled, applied and stored by people who have received adequate training.
Our range of NPTC pesticide training courses are designed by experts to help you understand:
- What pesticides are, and what they can be used for
- How to use pesticides safely, protecting both you and the environment
- Pesticide applications – how to choose and use the right pesticide applicators
- How to mix pesticides appropriately
Use of pesticides is governed by the Food and Environment Protection Act 1985 (FEPA), the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER) and the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 1999 (COSHH).
In the UK it is a legal requirement for people who are spraying with professional pesticides to hold an NPTC pesticides certificate of competence, otherwise known as a spraying certificate or licence.
