A Level Results Lead Students to Bright Futures - Bridgwater & Taunton College

A Level students have been celebrating their results, marking yet another year of excellent academic and personal achievement.

Andy Berry, College Principal & CEO said,

“I could not be prouder of our students and staff. With the support of our large network of tutors and support staff, students demonstrated their resilience, innovation, perseverance and positivity throughout this unprecedented time. For most students, their hard work and determination has been fairly reflected in their results.” He continued, “Whilst we couldn’t be together to celebrate, I was thrilled to hear about their exciting plans to pursue their passions at top universities such as Oxford, UCL, Cardiff and Exeter University.”

One A Level student who did particularly well was Joshua Renton, formerly from Bridgwater College Academy who achieved three A*s and is off to Bath University to study Computer Science. Josh commented,

“I’ve enjoyed my time at BTC and the lecturers have been extremely supportive and helpful throughout. I’m very relieved to finally know my results and could not be happier.”

Maddie Kennard from Crispin School also achieved excellent results with two A*s and an A, and has been accepted by Oxford University to study Experimental Psychology. She reflected,

“I can’t tell you how shocked and proud I was to receive an offer to study at Oxford. I couldn’t have done it without my tutors who encouraged me to apply then guided me through the process. I’ve worked extremely hard over the last two years and am beyond happy with the outcome – I couldn’t have asked for better grades.”

Other highflyers include Maisy Day from Haygrove School with two As and a B who will be studying English and History at Bristol University, and Wanessa Chwledacz formerly from Haygrove School who achieved an A* and two As securing a place at her first choice, Leeds University to study History of Art.

Head of A Levels, Vanessa Hughes said,

“Our staff and students worked extremely hard to ensure that learning continued throughout the lockdown and students were not disadvantaged by Covid-19. Prior to lockdown, students were on track to have an amazing year and this has been reflected in the results. I’m delighted that most will be able to progress onto their chosen pathway and am so proud of them. I wish them all the best.”
