Bridgwater & Taunton College (BTC) and University Centre Somerset (UCS) welcomed more than 400 visitors across the Bridgwater and Taunton campuses for an end of year art exhibition entitled ‘Perspective’.

A multitude of visitors, including friends, family, and employers – including many from the creative industries – enjoyed a plethora of stunning artwork from a range of Further Education (FE) and Higher Education (HE) courses, including, Degrees in Fine Art, Creative Digital, Graphic Design and Media Make-up, as well as Diplomas at Level 2, Level 3, and Foundation in Art & Design.

Visitors who attended were greeted with an immersive experience including video installations, fashion garments, photography shoots, ceramic sculptures and more.

Students who had their pieces on display had the chance to discuss their concepts with potential future employers, explaining the techniques and reasonings behind their artwork.

Prizes were awarded to students who had gone above and beyond, and many are transitioning to exciting destinations including the London College of Communication, London College of Fashion, Falmouth University, Cardiff Metropolitan University, University Centre Somerset, as well as immediate roles in the world of TV, film, and the wider creative industries.

At Taunton, UCS students Natasha and Chantelle both won a Student of the Year award, receiving a certificate and a beautiful bunch of flowers. Another UCS student, Ellie, was this year’s winner of the KM Effects award, chosen by Krystian Mallet, known for work on television and film including Harry Potter, Les Misérables, Aquaman, and many more! Ellie has additionally been offered an interview at KM Effects since the award was announced.

BTC and UCS are proud to give the students the opportunity to display their hard work and skills they have developed and grown at the College and University respectively.

Matt Cox, Deputy Head of Creative Arts, remarked,

It is a wonderful moment when all the hard work throughout the year comes together in such a positive celebratory event. We have seen some stunning examples of creative talent this year and I am sure that their learning here at BTC and UCS will give them every opportunity to succeed in this exciting industry. We will follow their next steps with interest.
