Automotive Engineering Department wins Outstanding Achievement Award - Bridgwater & Taunton College

The Automotive Engineering Department at Bridgwater & Taunton College has been awarded ‘Centre of the Year’ at the Outstanding Achievement Awards 2017, by the Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI). The awards recognise outstanding individuals as well as the world-class training being delivered across the UK.

The Automotive Engineering Department won the award for its level of teaching quality, facilities, range of qualifications and opportunities for students, alongside the College’s robust quality monitoring processes. The national event took place in October where Jerry Kitchker, Head of Automotive Engineering and the team travelled to the IMI Head Office in Hertfordshire to be presented with their award by IMI patron, HRH Prince Michael of Kent. The College also received £200 worth of Amazon vouchers and £1000 to spend at Euro Car Parts, which the College will use towards enhancing students’ education.

Jerry Kitchker said,

“This award is true testimony to all of the hard work from the team at both Bridgwater and Taunton campuses. This, without doubt highlights our centre as the best provider of Automotive Training in the country and fuels our forthcoming development plans for all of our course offerings.”

Steve Nash, CEO at The IMI said,

“Ranging from leading manufacturers to small independents, this year’s finalists demonstrate the incredible talent that’s needed in order to develop the sector. Each of the worthy finalists show admirable commitment to the motor industry and demonstrate the passion needed to succeed.”
