Bridgwater & Taunton College Student wins The Global Innovators Category - Bridgwater & Taunton College

Digital media design student Emily Bradley recently won the Global Innovators Category in The Apps for Good Awards. ‘Space Bubble’ is a mental health app for teens designed to help keep the user’s mental health on-track through daily, tailored activities.

Emily’s inspiration came after she struggled with her own mental health and she felt other young people could be suffering in silence. She completed product and consumer research to ensure the app would help and benefit her target audience, and it includes specific features that relate to different coping methods.

‘Space Bubble’ was up against stiff competition from students across the world, including an app that allows users to send excess food to those in need, and one designed to help people enjoy the outdoors.

Emily is considering university after College, and hopes to study editing with special effects and photography. She commented, “I really enjoy video and photographic editing, so would love a career creating music videos with special effects.”

Due to the lockdown, Emily was unable to receive her award at the usual ceremony, but celebrated her win in the garden with family. To find out about media courses at BTC, please visit www.btc.ac.uk or call 01278 441234.
